Order names the first Knight in the Nordic countries

President and founder of Viada DMC, Jukka-Paco Halonen, has been awarded the Order of the Camino de Santiago. The event took place on the 21st of September in the cities of Santiago de Compostela and Melide.

The Order of the Camino de Santiago was created with the idea of promoting the universal values of the Camino itself, which are, effort, solidarity, hospitality and generosity.

In this occasion, people from six different countries were graced and, in besides  participating in the official events, the "novices" also planted a tree and visited several  monuments.

After that a Gala Dinner was offered in the Royal Hall of the Hostal de los Reyes Católicos, where the Diplomas were handed over to the new investors and a Chapter Commemorative Medal was given to the members of the Order.

Jukka-Paco Halonen was named the first Knight of the Order in the Nordic countries, sponsored in his investiture by the Counselor of the Order, Jesús Ares. That distinction further reinforces Halonen's strong links with Spanish society.

About the Order

The Order of the Camino de Santiago was founded in the mid-eleventh century with the idea of being the link between several continents for those who profess their respect and   defend the values of the Camino de Santiago, promoting pilgrimages and connecting with the territories they cover.

One of the missions of the Order is to spread the cultural and ethnographic heritage of the different routes of the Camino de Santiago, contributing to promote cultural, religious and spiritual tourism.
